Who would be crazy enough to worship a car ??

In case you are wondering why my hotrod car web site has info about challenges I have faced in life, read on for an explanation. Keep an open mind and it may change your life!

As I do work on my car projects or make trips in them across the country, I add pages to the web site to record my experiences. The site is a journal about how I have been inspired to save these cars from the crusher and rework them to give them a new personality.

Actually, like most hot rodders or gearheads, I was downright obsessed with my car hobby for years - cars were the most highly prized posession I had.

"Car, car, car...thats all you care about; that *&$$@! car". (ever heard that before?)

I denied my actions most of the time, but I was "worshiping" my ride with too much of my time, talent and attention. This kind of behavior caused me many problems, but I chose to overlook the problems in favor of the pleasure the cars seemed to bring me.

This page is more about what has happened inside me since I quit worshiping my car. Late in 2000, I started searching for answers to some of the more significant challenges in my life. You know, real challenges like my marriage, being a good father, financial responsibility, changing jobs, a move out of state, building a new house... my soul.

Answers to these kinds of life-altering challenges are not found in Hot Rod, Car Craft or Street Rodder!

Something inside was telling me to get back to my roots. It had been a couple of decades since I was in regular attendance at Church, and that was in a different state, so I decided to just check out the Bible for myself. My 2nd Wife had got me a copy of the New Testament on casette tapes a couple of years earlier, and the set of tapes surfaced during the move to NY. I dusted them off and played them for the first time starting in November of 2000. I just put the set of tapes in my truck, and listened to them one at a time when I was driving around by myself.

The tapes of the Bible were easier to comprehend than reading, and are a lot safer than reading if you are driving around ! I was really surprised as the life of Jesus and many other individuals and groups of people were described by the reader. Some of the people in the Bible actually had worse problems than I had ! Of course, many had it together because they had a special relationship with Jesus and they were able to spend time with Him. As I listened to the tapes of the bible, I met this Jesus and started on a personal relationship with him.

Trust me, a fellow gearhead who never stops for directions when I drive: The good book - The Holy Bible, is THE place to look for directions in your life.
In the Bible, there's truth, wisdom; good advice; history and prophecy.
Its the inspired Word of God. There's directions for all aspects of our lives.

Here is a short testimony:
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was 8 years old. I was brought up in church, and learned very early in life that God is good and the Devil is bad. During the next 30 years, I tried to do good things but found my way into more than enough bad things like drugs, alcohol, sex, wife#1, debt, divorce#1, wrecklessness, more alcohol, more women, faster cars... get the picture?

My life was way out of balance. Although I believed in God and claimed Jesus as my savior, I had several problems being obedient to God's will for my life. Recently, I realized these problems were more than I could ever handle alone. I needed help bigtime. Help from above!

I prayed to God for forgiveness of my sins and I re-dedicated my life to be obedient to Him. I started looking for, and soon found a Bible-teaching, spirit filled multi-denominational church where I regularly worship God, and I have pulled back onto the "strait and narrow" based on teachings from the Bible. (see Matthew 7:7 below)

After studying the book of Acts and the early Church, I believed in, and received the Holy Spirit, which has turbocharged my spiritual life ! As a result, I can now do without the bad influences in life and the good things keep getting better !!
I am at peace with so many things that were stressing me out before.
I could go on and on about how much more positive life is for me now !

I still like the torque of the big block engine, driving fast, and the smell of burning rubber, but these are not the most important things in my life now...

Get some tapes, watch TBN (you know, the "Christian channel" on TV), see if there's a Christian radio station in your area, go to Church this Sunday...whatever you do, get right with God and welcome Jesus Christ into your life !!

I am so happy about having a rewarding walk through life with the Lord Jesus, that I put the Bible verses on my site as a praise offering to God, and good information to my fellow man. Here are some of my favorite verses for the new millinium:

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Proverbs 3
5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. 8This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. 9Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Romans 12
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your reasonable act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Matthew 7
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Romans 13
7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. 8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Obadiah 1:15
The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you, your deeds will return upon your own head.

Job 22:21
"Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
